From lobbing all my hair off to short layers and a full fringe to fire engine red tresses that took over 7 hours to remove, me and my hair have been on quite the journey together. Now I’m at a style I’m happy with, I’ve been on a never-ending quest to achieve those perfectly smooth Victoria Secret locks without spending Coco & Eve prices.
A little background into my hair type, it’s very long and I have a LOT of it. Now whilst this sounds like a dream to most people – and trust me, I’m aware that I’m in a great situation – I would be lying if I said I didn’t think at least once a month of trading it all in for a lob, unfortunately with my little round face, it’s nothing but a daydream. But it does take a lot of maintenance, ask anyone who knows me will know I dread Thursday’s, purely because it’s the day I have to wash my hair. So imagine my delight when I’m scrolling aimlessly through Instagram and I’m met with an advert for none other than Coco & Eve – a brand that promised a 5-in-1 treatment, that would transform my dry and damaged hair. A few days and £34.90 later, my masque was delivered. Now, I won’t lie, it worked an absolute treat! It smelt amazing, my hair was smooth and manageable and I had strangers complimenting me on the condition of my hair. But here’s where my problems lie – my hair falls below my waist and I have to use a lot of product. Coco & Eve claim that you can get 12 uses out of it, which might be true for someone who hasn’t got a lions mane, but for me, I got approx. 5 uses.
As much as I loved the product, I couldn’t see this being a regular thing, so my hunt continued. That’s when I was walking through Superdrug one Friday night and I stumbled across their Hydrate & Shine Hair Masque with Coconut Water. Now this isn’t a bang on dupe, it is lacking some of the ingredients of Coco & Eve, but it’s Cruelty-Free, smells fantastic and best of all, IS ONLY £3.99!!! (On special at the moment for 2 for £5 – so I’ve picked up 10 just to be safe).
(before hair treatment)
Now, it is a slightly smaller size to Coco & Eve – 200ml vs 212ml – but to be honest, it’s 88% cheaper and I can’t tell the difference in results. You use it in the exact same way as Coco & Eve, once you shampoo your hair, wring it out and smooth the masque over your hair. Then get a brush (I use my tangle teezer) and ensure your hair is fully coated. Then all you have to do is relax for a minimum of 10 mins before rinsing – If you want a real treat, apply it overnight. Just take a look at these results – birds nest to bombshell!
(after hair treatment)
Overall, I’m deeply pleased with my new find, I get roughly 3-4 uses from a tub, depending on how liberally I apply it, and my hair has never been in such great condition. Go out and buy it now, it has my guaranteed seal of approval!
