This month I have been saving as much money as I can, for two reasons mainly; one: I have an actual job now, so I feel kind of obligated to do the adult thing and have a savings account, and two, me and Matt are looking to get a house together so I’d like to have a little nest egg. That doesn’t mean however that I do not lust after certain products, and this month is no different! So I have decided to compile a list of some of my favourite bits that I want for this month. It is made up of house related items, as we are trying to have a stock pile of necessities ready for when we move!
So the first thing I have been looking at is pots and pans, I first saw copper pans on Pinterest and a slight obsession has grown from there! I have decided to lay this out as a ‘splurge/steal’ kind of deal just so anyone who is interested knows what is actually out there. On the left features the Mauviel 6 piece copper set from Harrods, coming in at a huge £1,499, now as much as I adore these, I don’t think I can justify spending that amount on pots and pans right now, so I was looking at an alternative. That’s when I found these amazing copies from John Lewis, priced at a much more reasonable bracket of £60 – £125, they are already sitting in my basket waiting for me!
I then turned my attention to wall clocks, my mum has always been a fan of Newgate clocks, so it has kind of been ingrained in me that in my own house I will also have one proudly hanging on my kitchen wall. I then discovered how expensive Newgate clocks are! And I don’t think that I have the time or patience to try and persuade Matt that it would be a good idea (Matt – if you see it, it is a good idea :)). I then stumbled across the brand Jones & Co on Homebase, and found almost exactly the same clock for a fraction of the price! A mere £17.99, I’m not 100% sure on the colour of this one still as it looks a little yellowish, but for that price, it might be worth to take the chance!
The last want of this month is a grey faux fur blanket, it once again comes from a little Pinterest inspiration. I have always wanted my house to be really ‘homey’ and somewhere that people will sit down and not want to leave, so lots of blankets and pillows in my front room is a must! I have already decided that I want a grey toned living room, with lots of different shades and textures of white and grey so I wanted a nice fur throw for one of the chairs. I found this one in Zara, which comes in at £109.99, now I don’t actually mind paying this amount for this blanket, I have seen it in person and it looks and feels amazing, but for all intensive purposes I had a little look in the Asda home section as I have heard some really good reviews of their stuff, and I am not disappointed, I came across this grey striped blanket for only £25! So I feel that I need to see this and compare the two to make my choice.
So it looks like I have some decisions to make, but it is so interesting to see what you can actually find when you look! I have found some great dupes that normally would have cost me a fortune, and now I can put that money into something else!
I’d be really interested to hear anyone else’s secret finds if they have any?
