I’ve been meaning to write this post for, oh, I don’t know, 2 months now… Yeah bad planning on my part but I’ve finally got round to showing you what I bought when I went to Florida. I had specific sights set in my mind, I was heading to Bath and Body works for their Semi-Annual Sale, and despite what Matt says, I could and would squeeze 10 candles into my suitcase, and his negativity could be checked in at baggage!
My all time favourite scent that B&BW stock is Mahogany Teakwood, unfortunately, everyone else on God’s green earth also thinks this too, so stock flies out as soon as the shelves are restocked and it often means that it is not included in the sales or promotions. This is however a small price to pay, so I decided to pick up two of these and have been burning them since I’ve been back. B&BW three wick candles retail for $22.50 (approx. £14) and burn for about 45 hours, so are great value for money. To me, this candle smells very masculine and fresh, similar to an aftershave and is perfect for all year round.
I also picked up this wallflower and 4 refills in the same Mahogany Teakwood scent – Can’t resist it. Didn’t really use my brain whilst buying it though, as it has a US plug so I have to use an adapter but it still works just fine and fills any room with a subtle fragrance. I have read a few safety warnings about these, so never leave them on if you aren’t going to be in the room and the oil in the refill can spoil light furnishings, so better to be safe than sorry.
The next candles I got were the Sparking Pear Riesling and Barcelona scents. I really don’t like the smell of wine so I didn’t think I would like the SPR at all but it is definitely more fruity than alcoholic. Barcelona states that it smells of mandarins & mosaics, now I don’t know about you, but I don’t know what a mosaic would smell like? But it definitely has a citrusy orange vibe mixed with peach and a hint of vanilla.
Next up I went full on fruity and got Cherry Blossom Sangria, and Peach Bellini. Both of these come from the cocktail summer scents and are amazing! I’m not a huge fan of the packaging of these ones (is it weird for the font to bother me?) but the smell makes up for it in leaps and bounds. CBS is full of fresh cherry nectar, crisp apple slices and a hint of wild raspberry.
Beautiful Day is one of Bath and Body Works best sellers, and I can completely see why, I’m a little sad that they have repackaged this and it looks so much nicer, but at least it’s something to bear in mind when I go back. It’s got a great mix of florals and apple, and is definitely one to pick up if you’re a B&BW newbie. Also part of the poptails collection is the Island Margarita, this candle is so strong! It’s verging on overpowering but forgivable in short periods or in a larger space – if you’re a lover of limes this ones for you.
One thing I love is burning two candles at once to layer fragrances (ala Jo Malone) I’m currently experimenting with Watermelon Lemonade and Georgia Peach. Both perfect for a summers day and smell exactly like they say on the tin. but mixing together reminds me of a fruity cocktail, perfect!
I’ve already seen some from the autumn collection that I can’t wait to get my hands on next month – I’m looking at you Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin! Let me know if anyone else has any recommendations of Bath and Body Works favourites for when I head back next month, I’m already working on optimising my suitcase space. I’ve also got part 2 coming soon with the body edition!
