3 Steps To A Flawless Tan

I feel like I have managed to trick the world in to thinking that I am naturally quite a tan person, but in reality, only a small number of people know the truth – my skin is literally the colour of fresh snow. Now I am all about people embracing what they are born with, but for me, I don’t carry pale well, I don’t catch the sun, and I need a quick fix that I can use daily… Enter fake tan. Ah fake tan, we’ve had a love hate relationship for many years now, but I think I have finally cracked the perfect 3 step routine, for a flawless tan every time. So if you’re an avid tanner like me, this one is for you!

So to start off this whole process, you’re gonna need a blank canvas. I often use to struggle with this, but it really is awful layering on tan after tan, so you need to scrub yourself and start again! So step one is to exfoliate. Whilst on a mini break to Centre Parcs I picked up this kissed by Mii before I was having a spray tan. I’m not big on exfoliator, feel free to correct me, but I kind of feel like I could spend £5 or £50 and it will just do the same thing – it buffs away disgusting dead skin cells. Something I will rate however is my Tan Eraser* I received this about 2 weeks ago, and it really has become part of my routine, one side is slightly rougher than the other, but it is great at getting away any tan build up! You can always use a pouf, but the handling is so much easier this way.

Step two of this routine is to moisturise, don’t let all your hard work exfoliating go to waste, you now need to butter yourself up, leaving a smooth surface for your tan. You’ve probably heard this all before but pay attention to your dry areas, hands, feet, knees and elbows – tan has a habit of clinging to these areas and they are a tell tale sign of an amateur. For my moisturising I use this Frangipani body cream, the smell is amazing, it really reminds me of a spa, I will say the scent is not for everyone though, I recently wore this and my sister wouldn’t go near me, so just use whatever you have handy.

You’re now ready for your final step! Time to tan. I switch up the tan I use quite frequently, I usually start on Sunday with my St Tropez dry oil, and as the week goes on top up with just an instant one, I’m loving this one at the moment, and would you believe it is only £3 from Sainsburys? It has a gel like consistency and a really natural colour.
